Protests Will Continue: CPI State Secretary

Pinarayi VijayanTrivandrum, India, Sept. 13 2002 (INS News) -- Pinarayi Vijayan, secretary Communist Party of India (Maxist) has said that the concluded 10 days blockade of government offices, was only a prelude to the agitations to come against the United Democratic Front rule in the state.

Attending at a 'meet-the-press' in Trivandrum, Pinarayi said that his party received overwhelming support to the agitation even from 'traditional supporters of the ruling UDF'.

There will be 'serious consequences' in the state, if the Kerala government breaks the tripartite agreement on salary structure in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and Kerala State Electricity Board in the name reorganization., he warned

While Left Democratic Front ruling headed by CPI, was not opposed to reforms in the Kerala State Electricity Board without affecting its public sector characteristics.Pinarai Vijayan accused the United Democratic Front government of implementing the secret agenda of privatisation in the state.

"The Asian Development Bank or the World Bank would have never dared to propose privatization agenda to us," the CPI Secretary said while referring to discussions regarding international loans, held during the LDF rule.
