Kerala Tourism Development Corp. in Agreement with Indian Tourism Development Corp.

Trivandrum, India, Jul. 11 2002 (INS News) -- The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has entered into a partnership with India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) for joint promotion of tourism and associated facilities in the country.

A formal agreement to this effect was signed between Dr. K. Elangovan IAS, Managing director of KTDC and Ashwani Lohani, chairman and Managing director, ITDC on Tuesday,at capital city, Trivandrum.

As per the Memmorandum of Understanding Ashok Reservation and Marketing Services (ARMS),a ITDC unit with offices in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata will market hotels of KTDC on standard commission terms.

On the other hand, the same arrangement will be reciprocated by KTDC also. ARMS and the Reservation/Marketing wing of KTDC will regularly send their room status reports to each other for this purpose. Prof. K V Thomas, Minister for Tourism of Kerala State said that the Tourism sector and KTDC in Kerala are spreading their wings in search of new horizons.

Padmaja Venugopal,Chairperson,KTDC said that the Corporation, after she took over a year ago, has moved ahead with the help of a professional team. It is necessary for institutions like KTDC and ITDC to help each other to ensure existence and progress. Chairperson added.

The Managing director of ITDC Ashwani Lohani,congratulated the State for having succeeded in becoming an icon in the field of tourism.The fame of Kerala has traveled worldwide.He added
The agreement envisages to establish a partnership initiative, in which the ITDC's Travel Agency, Ashok Travels & Tours (ATT) and KTDC will market the existing packages/tours of both organisations and will also develop new packages/tours for promoting and marketing Kerala for both domestic and overseas tourists.
