Minister Warns Financial Institutions
Trivandrum, India, Jul. 11 2002 (INS News) --
The Kerala State Chief Minister A.K. Antony informed
the State Assembly that the government was very
closely watching the private financial Institutions
in the state and use of goons by them for recovering
the dues from defaulters.
A.K. Antony was replying to a call attention moved
by member of Indian Union Muslim League, Mammootty,
on serious law and order problems caused by the
activities of these type of financial firms, which
exploits the public. Antony promised in the Assembly
stern action against firms which sought the use
of criminals.
The youngsters recruited as professionals by moneylenders
to realise the loan instalments from the defaulters,
that ends up as thieves and vehicle lifters.This
was revealed by a study conducted by police, AK
Antony said.
Government should provide protection to private
money lenders and at the same time it was also important
to see that new goons were not produced under the
cover of this business, Antony added.
