Trade Union Strike from Midnight
Monday
Trivandrum, India,
Aug. 5 2002 (INS News) --
The essential services in the Kerala state including
normal functioning of transport system will remain
affected due to the 24-hours strike called by the
joint council of trade unions in protest against
the 'anti-labour' policies of both Government of
India and State of Kerala.
The
trade unions have however exempted services of hospitals, milk,
water supply and media from the strike.
While
the pro-Leftist union, participating in the strike,
many pro ruling-Congress trade unions including
the Non Gazatted Officers Association have disassociated
with the strike call in Kerala.
The
'dies-non' would be invoked in the case of government
staff participating in the strike, according to
a Government statement.
