President expresses grief over train mishap

Patna, India, Sept. 11 2002 (INS News) --
President A P J Abdul Kalam on Tuesday expressed profound grief over the death of passengers in the accident involving Howrah-Delhi Rajdhani Express

The President sent in his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed to the almighty to give them strength to bear the terrible loss.
He also wished speedy recovery to those injured and assured all possible assistance to the families of the deceased and medical help to the injured.

Prime Minister Atal Bihari VajpayeeBihari Vajpayee asked Railway Minister Nitish Kumar to take immediate steps to provide relief to the victims of the accident, in Bihar.

Prime Minister Vajpayee, who is on his way to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, wished speedy recovery to the injured.

About 10 long-distance trains have been diverted through Patna and Gaya-Patna route following derailment of Howrah-Delhi Rajdhani Express.
