Governor Quits

Maharastra State Governor P.C. Alexander has resigned.
Alexander, whose name was initially floated by the
NDA as its candidate for the presidential election,
handed over his resignation letter to Deputy Prime
Minister L.K Advani in New Delhi, official sources
said.
The Vajpayee Government which failed in its attempt
to make him President is all set to compensate for
the embrassment caused to him.Alexander has been
offered the post of Deputy Chairman of the Planning
Commissionand the other post being considere for
him is Permanent Envoy to the United Nations.
He
was appointed as Governor of Maharashtra by the
Narasimha Rao government in the mid-90s and was
reappointed for another term by Vajpayee Government
after he had established good equations with the
then Shiv Sena BJP government in Maharastra state.
